Privacy Policy for the Foocus App

This privacy policy applies to the Foocus app for iOS and Android. A separate privacy policy for the foocus.space website is available in German.

The principle: this app collects no data

The Foocus app was deliberately built to work without a server connection, without an account and without transmitting any data to us or to third parties. Everything you create in the app — goals, sessions, rewards, settings — is stored exclusively locally on your device (in local app storage, known as AsyncStorage). We have no access to this data; it never leaves your device.

The app contains no analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs and establishes no connection to our servers or to those of third parties.

In detail

Photo library (optional)

If you choose your own reward photo for a main goal, the app accesses your photo library through your operating system's system function. The selected image is stored exclusively locally on your device so that it can be displayed inside the app. It is not uploaded, not transmitted to us and not shared with third parties.

Notifications (optional)

The app can notify you via a local notification when a focus session has ended. These notifications are created and managed entirely on your device (through your operating system's system function). No data is transmitted to us or to third parties for this purpose.

Deletion

Since all data is stored exclusively locally, you can delete it yourself at any time — either via the reset function in the app settings or by uninstalling the app.

Your rights

Since we do not process or store any personal data about you, most data subject rights under the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection) have nothing to apply to — there is simply nothing stored about you on our side. You nevertheless retain the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority at any time (Art. 77 GDPR).
